From Rick Steves: Each July, a million revelers pack into Pamplona, Spain, for the raucous Festival of San Fermín. They come to this proud town in the Pyrenees foothills for music, fireworks, and merrymaking. But most of all, they come for the Running of the Bulls, when fearless (or foolish) adventurers — called mozos — thrust themselves into the path of six furious bulls.
In Spanish it is literally translated as ‘servant’. So it’s only fitting that we take on this moniker for our group as we look to serve our club both on and off the pitch. And on match day, we show up in force, organized, as one. We’re fearless and unwaivering, ready to run with the bulls and drive our opponents to face their fate at the feet of the Matadors in the arena.
When It all began...
on a brisk February evening in 2022, three friends sat down with a guy named Dustin and his friend, Hitch. They told us that Lubbock was getting a soccer team and promised us it was going to be centered on the community.
We were stoked!
Though having some prior supporters group experience, we were curious…can we bring the noise like we only know we should?
They said build it. So we did.
Since then others have grafted themselves onto our ragtag group of misfit hooligans bringing their own unique talents and passions to make us the envy of supporters groups around our league and beyond.
We are a registered
501(c)(3)
That’s right, we ain’t playin’ games with our support so we made sure it’s tax advantageous for everyone, members and donors alike.
In the spring of 2024, the Mozos organized and filed paperwork first with the state of Texas as a non-pofit corporation, and then shortly after we were awarded our 501(c)(3).
For a small and young organization like ours, this was a huge accomplishment and enables us to better support our club and community as we grow the beautiful game here on the Dust Coast.
We can’t do what we do without a little bit of grease in the wheels to keep things smoking. Every bit of support helps. Donations go toward game-day supplies like smoke, tifo, flags, instruments, etc.
But our mission goes beyond match day. We have a fund for community support and aspirations to start a youth soccer scholarship.
